The first major investigation takes place near Academy Gate Town in Liurnia of the Lakes. Lanya is found dead, and Diallos is nearby grieving over her body. There is no dedicated quest marker that reliably guides every stage, and the game expects the player to remember Diallos's request, revisit the relevant hubs and speak to him after major world events. When an NPC seems stuck, the most reliable troubleshooting step is to rest at a nearby Site of Grace or reload the area, then check the same position again.

The Volcano Manor section is a dependency rather than a standalone Diallos mission. Diallos's appearance there is part of the manor's wider contract structure, so advancing the manor's assignments and returning for dialogue is more important than searching for a hidden entrance or boss arena. Defeating the manor's major boss too early can close the manor's remaining NPC content, making contract order a meaningful consideration for completionists.

Jarburg uses a similar state-change system. Jar-Bairn and Diallos do not complete their stories in one conversation, and the final event becomes available only after their dialogue has been exhausted across several visits.
